Pink Slips & Blue Slips (Vehicle Inspections)
Expert mechanic and auto electrician in the Inner West with 20 years of experience across all makes and models.
In New South Wales, ensuring your vehicle is roadworthy is a legal requirement for registration. DG Auto Electrical & Mechanical is an Authorised Inspection Station (AIS) and an Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection Station (AUVIS).
We provide fast, honest, and thorough eSafety Checks (Pink Slips) for your annual registration renewal, as well as comprehensive Blue Slip inspections for unregistered vehicles or vehicles transferring from interstate.
Don't let registration stress you out. We provide a streamlined service, and if your vehicle does require repairs to pass, we can handle them on-site to get you on the road as quickly as possible.

Pink Slips (eSafety Checks) for Registration Renewal
If your vehicle is more than five years old, you are required to obtain an eSafety Check, commonly known as a Pink Slip, before you can renew your NSW registration. This inspection ensures that your vehicle meets the minimum safety standards required to be on the road.
During a Pink Slip inspection, we check critical safety components including tyre tread depth and condition, brake efficiency, steering and suspension components, all exterior lighting, seatbelts, and we ensure there are no major fluid leaks.
Once your vehicle passes the inspection, we electronically send the results directly to Transport for NSW. This allows you to conveniently pay for your registration renewal online immediately, without needing to visit a Service NSW center.
What Happens if My Car Fails a Pink Slip?
If we identify a safety issue during the inspection, such as bald tyres or a blown brake light, we will issue a 'Repairs Needed' report. You then have 14 days to rectify the issues.
The benefit of having your inspection done at DG Auto is that we are a fully equipped workshop. In most cases, we can quote and perform the necessary repairs on the spot or within a few days. Once the repairs are completed by us, we will clear the defect and issue the Pink Slip.
We pride ourselves on our honesty. We only fail vehicles on genuine safety issues mandated by the government guidelines, ensuring you are safe on the road without facing unnecessary repair bills.
Blue Slips for Unregistered Vehicles
A Blue Slip (AUVIS inspection) is a much more comprehensive and rigorous safety and identity check than a standard Pink Slip. You will need a Blue Slip if your vehicle's registration has expired for more than 3 months, if you are bringing a vehicle into NSW from another state, or if you are registering a vehicle without number plates.
In addition to the standard safety checks, a Blue Slip inspection involves an enhanced identity check to ensure the vehicle's engine and chassis numbers match the registration papers and that the vehicle has not been stolen or rebirthed.
Because a Blue Slip is a highly detailed inspection, it takes longer than a Pink Slip. We recommend booking in advance. If your vehicle passes, we will provide you with the necessary paperwork to take to Service NSW to establish your new registration.
